About TEX.A.N.
A statewide home for Texas authors and readers.
Texas Author Network is a year-round network for independent Texas authors, the readers who follow them, and the literary community that connects them, built to last beyond any single event or season.
Our Mission
Why we exist.
To connect Texas authors, readers, and literary communities through year-round opportunities, meaningful events, and a network built to help independent voices thrive.
Independent authors are the heart of it. TEX.A.N. gives Texas writers a place to be seen and gives readers a reliable way to discover local voices they would otherwise miss.
Around those two groups sits everything else we care about: community between writers, a healthier literary culture, and a sense that all of it is rooted in Texas: its cities, its stories, and the people who tell them.
Our Vision
Where we’re headed.
TEX.A.N. is early, and honest about it. The long-term vision is a statewide literary organization that grows steadily and on solid footing, not overnight.
A statewide literary network
One connected home for Texas authors and readers, not a single event or a single city.
Events across Texas
Multiple gatherings each year, each rooted in its own city while sharing one organization.
Discovery & community
Author discovery that works year-round, and a community that supports independent writers between events.
Support & partnership
Educational opportunities, publishing support, and partnerships that strengthen literary culture across the state.
What We Do
The work of the network.
Some of this is live today; some is part of the long-term plan. We try to be clear about which is which.
Events
Author fairs and literary gatherings held across Texas, beginning in San Antonio and growing city by city.
Author Directory
A public, searchable home where Texas indie authors present who they are, what they write, and where to find their books.
Reader Discovery
Ways for readers to find Texas voices by genre, location, and interest, without going through a chain store's front table.
Community
A year-round network that keeps writers connected to one another and to the readers who follow their work.
Publishing Support
Guidance and resources for independent authors, an area we intend to grow as the network and its members do.
Partnerships
Relationships we're building with bookstores, libraries, schools, and literary organizations across the state.
The TEX.A.N. Story
Why we built this.
Texas has a deep literary culture, but independent authors here often have to piece their visibility together alone — a profile on one site, a book listing on another, an event flyer somewhere else. Readers who would love their work simply never find it.
TEX.A.N.started from a simple frustration with that gap. Independent writers deserve a shared home, readers deserve an easier way to discover local voices, and Texas deserves a literary community that isn’t scattered across a dozen platforms.
So we’re building one — carefully, and for the long term.
Who organizes TEX.A.N.
